Squash Club AGM 2011

Please note that the Fenland Squash Club AGM will take place on Tuesday 8th November at the Over Community Centre, starting at 8:00pm. All members are welcome to attend. It will be a good opportunity to learn about the running of the club and to make your suggestions to the committee on ways you believe the club could be improved. We look forward to seeing those that can make it on the night.

Junior Newsletter – Sept 2011

Welcome to the new squash season.

Once again junior squash club is on a Thursday after school.

I am running 2 sessions at the moment which are rapidly filling and so may also run a third.

Session one – 3.15pm to 4.15pm NOW FULL
Session two – 4.15pm to 5.15pm
(Session three – 5.15pm. – 6.00pm)

Cost is £2 a session and I can provide rackets and goggles. Non marking shoes are needed.

At the moment all sessions have mixed abilities and I have spaces in session two, so if you have any friends who might like to try a new sport, please ask them to give me a ring or just come along to one of the sessions.

The first event of the year was the county closed championship at Hemingford Grey over the weekend 24th/25th September and well done to our players who took part, in particular Hannah who won the U13 girls championship.

Our successful team who won Division 1 of the county league last year have now moved on to sixth form college, and at the moment I am just planning to enter one U15 team because of the problems of Sunday football clashes.

JUST A REMINDER THERE WILL NOT BE A JUNIOR SESSION ON OCTOBER 20th AS I AM AT MY SCHOOL OPEN DAY.

Enjoy your squash this year.

Well done Hannah!

On September 24th, Hannah from Fenland Squash Club won the County Closed Under 13 Championship – well done!

Weekly club night…

When I first joined Fenland Squash Club there used to be a club night. I found the club night a good way to meet other squash players in the club and it gave me the chance to play people with varying levels of skill, helping to improve my game.

Following a pole to gauge interest in a club night and to determine which would be the best night to hold it, we have now decided on Tuesday. The first club night will take place on Tuesday 11th October. At the end of October we will review interest in the club night based on the number of players turning up for it and decide whether it should continue. As always, any comments/suggestions concerning the club night are welcome.

Happy playing, Paul.

For those interested in the results of the pole, they were:

    Monday – 6 votes
    Tuesday – 8 votes
    Wednesday – 9 votes
    Thursday – 6 votes
    Friday – 3 votes
