Fenland Junior Newsletter – March 2014

Junior club will continue as normal, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, until Summer half term  (last session May 22nd )  Thanks to Calum, Hannah, Harry and Helen for all their help with the running of the club

Congratulations to all those who played in our county league teams  – all of whom established themselves, or moved upwards a significant number of places on the county ladder. Our first team of Peter, Hannah and Calum only lost two of their matches  in Division II.

Our second team of Jamie Tipple, Harry Winter and Josh Spevack were runners up in Division III and our Under 11 team of Matthew Story, Phillip Considine, Malik and Mumin Bilen won Division IV . This was a great achievement as the division had 10 teams.

Hannah Gingell also played for the county Under 15 girl’s team.

The next major event is the End of Season Tournament at Cambridge SC.  Entry forms available from me, another good opportunity to gain experience by playing juniors from other clubs.

The Fenland Club Junior Championships draw will soon be on the board so make sure you play the matches as soon as you can.  There are also trophies for most improved player of the year and club player of the year (the player who has attended most sessions and worked hard at their squash) so please let me know if you have suggestions.

In April, I am organising a ‘Play the Experts’ session when juniors will be able to play our senior team players.  We have 3 men’s and a ladies team so plenty to choose from.

I am available during the summer term for more intensive coaching sessions – either individual or 2/3 players – cost £5 /40 minute individual session including lights (reduced cost if 2/3 players together). These can be one off sessions or on a regular basis.

I will also have a squash coaching day during the Easter Holidays.

I am still very keen to increase the number of primary students playing, so please ask them along if you think they may be interested in playing.  First session is free.
