JUNIOR NEWSLETTER – SEPTEMBER 2013

 

Welcome to the new squash season

 

It is great to see everyone from last year and many new players. Junior squash club has now expanded to six sessions each week on Tuesdays and Thursdays as follows:

Tuesday – 3.15pm, 4.00pm and 5.00pm; all group sessions which have spaces.

Thursday – 3.15pm, 4.15pm; group sessions, both full, and 5.15pm for advanced individual coaching.

 

If you have any friends who might like to try a new sport, please ask them to give me a ring or just come along to one of the Tuesday sessions.

Cost is £2 (taster session free) and I can provide rackets and goggles.  Non marking shoes are needed.

 

The first event of the year was the County Closed Championships at Hemingford Grey over the weekend

28th /29th September and well done to our players who took part; Matthew, Phillip, Will and Ewan and in particular Hannah Gingell who played well in the U17 girls and was  runner up in the U15 girls. Hannah has also been selected to play in the county team.  Well done.

 

I have entered 3 teams in the county league this year.

The successful team of Nick, Peter, Hannah and Callum have been promoted to Division II.

Match dates : Nov 17thand Jan 26th.

Our second team of Jamie, Josh and Harry will be in Division III.

Match dates : November 10th , December 1st ,February 23rd and March 9th .

We have lots of Under 11s to choose from, for the team in Division IV and in the county we also have a fantastic number of young players – 10 teams have entered this Division.

Match Dates : November 3rd ,December 1st ,January 12th February 2nd ,and March 2nd .

 

At half term there will be a squash day with coaching and games and the next county tournament is the Brian Fielding Memorial Tournament at Fenland on Saturday December 7th .
