Welcome to the 2014/2015 season.  I still have places left for all sessions so please continue to encourage your friends to come and give squash a try.

Session times are for one hour on:

Tuesdays and Thurdays at 3.15, 4.15 and 5.00.  Cost is £2 with a free taster session.

The club junior championships were held over the summer term and full results and photos are on the display board. Congratulations to all winners and runner ups, together with Malik Bilen who won the most Improved Player of the Year and Harry Winter who was Club Player of the Year.

The first main competition of the season was the Junior County Closed held at Hunts County Squash Club attracting an entry of 96 juniors. Fenland players who entered were Hannah Gingell, Mumin Bilen, Phillip Considine, Malik Bilen Matthew Story and Jamie Tipple.

All played really well particularly Malik who, at the age of 11, won his first round in the U15 boys and reached the semi finals of the U13 boys.

We are changing the inter-club league format this year, with each club restricted to entering one team only into each division. I will be entering one team in Division II, one in Division III and one under 11 team in Division IV.  Match dates for all divisions will be on

October 19th, January 11th and March 1st .

In addition, we are running graded competitions on three weekends:

15th/16th November, 31stJanuary/ 1stFebruary and 25th/26thApril.

We are trialling these this year as many counties recommend them for very competitive matches. Players are grouped on standard and play in a group, unrelated to club, against 4/5 other players of a similar standard for a morning or an afternoon.  Matches are best of 3 and count as county ladder challenges.

If you want to compete against players from other clubs, the county ladder is posted on the notice board and updated monthly after the county closed.  Just challenge a player above you and they have 4 weeks to meet the challenge which has to be best of 5 games to 11 PAR scoring.  Then email your result to davebradbury@tiscali.co.uk

There are also lots of ESR OPEN COUNTY COMPETITIONS taking place if you enjoy competition, and these can be found on the

England Squash and Racketball website:   www.englandsquashandracketball.com

Enjoy your squash
