How It Works

1. To Join: easy, put your full name on one of the blank paper tabs and insert into the next free slot at the bottom of the ladder (No Space: Contact one of the bottom six players to arrange a game and win to join the ladder. The person at the very bottom falls off the ladder. Put their name tab into the ‘ladder overflow’ envelope on the notice board).
2. Move Up: contact a player in the ladder up to six places above you to arrange a game. Play the game, win and move up. The person you’ve played and those below him all move down one place. Continue the process.
3. Get To The Top And Stay There: To do this you need to play your games. If not, even the best players will slowly slip down to the bottom.



Game Rules

4. Hand-out Scoring System: The scoring system is based on a “serving” system, in which one must gain the serve to obtain a point. Games are played to 9 points (with the exception that the receiver may opt to call “set two” and play to 10 when the score first reaches 8-8).
5. Final Score: The winner is the first to win three games. If time runs out or the game has to stop for another reason and neither player has won three games, the following rules should be used to determine the winner:

a) The player who has won the most games when the playing stops.

b) If both players have won the same number of games, then the winner is the player with at least a three point lead in the current game.

c) Otherwise a draw and no positions are changed on the ladder.
