Fenland Squash Club Roof

The club house roof, as some may know, is in a poor state and has started to leak above the court 3 balcony. This was a key topic for discussion at the committee meeting on Monday 24 Jan 2011 (see the minutes for details of this and other items discussed). The condition of the roof above court 3 is such that repair is not really a viable option and replacement needs to be considered. Given that the roof on courts 1 and 2 is older it was decided that it is more sensible to replace the roof above all three courts at the same time. Replacing the roof requires the insulation to be brought up to the requirements of the latest building regulations, adding cost. However, this may help retain some heat and have a positive benefit. Quotations for replacement of the roof received a couple of years back indicate the cost will be significant, and will exceed the current funds held by the club. We are therefore in the process of seeking new quotations and ways in which to fund this. If you have any suggestions, are in the roofing business or know someone that is, or would like to have input then please get in touch with one of the committee members.

Monrad Tournament – December 2010

When: Thursday 30th December 2010
Time: 6:40pm
Cost: £2:00

Open to all standards of play.

Players will have four timed long games.  Each time they play they get closer to players of the same standard.  Final position should rank players 1-16.  Scoring is PAR (Point on Rally).

Please note, this is limited to 16 players, so if interested, sign-up soon when next down the club house to make sure you don’t miss out.  A great way to burn off some of the additional calories consumed over Christmas.

Ladies team update – Dec 2010

The ladies team squad was much depleted this year and we were only able to field one team instead of three as in previous seasons. Despite this, we seem to have become the ‘Blackpool FC’ of ladies squash and are now lying third in the premier division. Special mention must go to Hayley Green – the youngest player in the league who is now tenth in the rankings of games won. Team consists of Alex Macfarlane (capt), Fiona Bedford, Glynis Fenwick, Hayley Green and Debby Rushton.

We will have 2 teams in the county leagues each with 2 or 3 fixtures against other teams during the season.
Matches are played at 2pm. on Sunday afternoons.

JUST A REMINDER THERE WILL NOT BE A JUNIOR SESSION ON OCTOBER 21ST AS I AM AT OUR SCHOOL OPEN DAY
